Rapinoe played for Sydney Football Club FC in the Australian W-League for a couple matches before returning to the United States. The next team she joined was the Seattle Washington Sounders Women. Now she is with the Sound FC. Rapinoe spent the 2013 soccer season in France. When the WPS was disbanded the team was renamed Seattle Reign FC (now OL Reign) of the National Women's Soccer League NWSL. Rapinoe, who had two points for the United States in the 4-3 win over Australia at the Olympics bronze medal match at Tokyo in 2020 due to the COVID-19 epidemic which Japan was forced to postpone to 2021 due to the effects of the pandemic won the gold in Tokyo in 2016.
